I am really intrigued to know his fate at the end of this book and I guess these characters only would be my motivation to pick the last and final part of this book. They were armed with short broad-bladed swords, not with the curved scimitars usual with Orcs: and they had bows of yew, in length and shape like the bows of Men. He is such a wretched character and somehow I was unable to determine whether he is good or bad, to hate him or to pity him and that’s what I love most about his character. Sad for me the whole journey of Frodo and Sam was in the second part of this book, so I had to drag myself through half the book before I actually started enjoying the book. In fact, I like Merry and Pippin too and I looked forward to their part in the book. I loved few characters in the book and if you guess mostly all of them are Hobbits. Now enough with the rant, let’s come to some of the things that I loved. I think this is one of the first times where I felt that movies are better than books. After reading 10s of pages I used to feel that nothing has moved even a bit in the story and I sometimes dragged myself to the end. But somehow with this book all these extra pages were not adding much to the story. Contrary to that I am a big sucker for big books. And for worse the second part was more of a disappointment than the first part.īefore picking the book, I already knew that it would be slow from the reviews, and truly speaking I don’t mind slow books if those extra pages are helping in character or plot development. And due to the disappointing first part, I struggled to pick up the next part for quite some time. I have heard a lot about the book and hence I picked it with high expectations.
I read the first part sometime last year during the lockdown and somehow that book failed to hold the charm over me. Since I haven’t written a post for the first part, I will try to cover the review of the first part of the book too as much as I can remember. My experience reading it(Unpopular Opinion) The second part follows the journey of Frodo and Sam and their unusual companion Gollum. There they had some important fights and met some unexpected people. The first part follows the adventure of Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli, Merry, and Pip in the lands of Ronan. The second part of the book is again broken into two parts. On discovering this, Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli set on the lands of Rohan to find them. Merry and Pip are abducted by the Orcs who are taking them to Saruman. The books follow from Book1 when the fellowship of the ring broke and Frodo and Sam left alone carrying the ring to complete the task set by the Council. The title The Two Towers refers to Barad-dr and Orthanc, Saurons stronghold in Mordor and Sarumans citadel in Isengard, respectively. Tolkien which follows the adventure of Frodo and other members of the fellowship.
